Inspired

When I say that the Bible is inspired, I mean that God is the reason for every word in the Bible. No matter who the author was or when and where the text was written, God was the initiator, provider and protector of the words that are scripture. God initiated Scripture by acting in history in the human context. God interacted with people in order that people might know Him. As a result of God acting in history, people desired to record and remember those acts. The desire to record and transmit God’s activity was a result of the experience itself but also because of God’s command to record history. God wanted those with whom he interacted to teach those after them of God’s deeds.

God then provided the words through those he used to write the Scripture. The human involvement cannot be denied, but the degree of human authority over the actual words is seen in different ways. When I say inspired what I mean is that God provided by His Holy Spirit every word that is Scripture and that He did that through a human agent.

God also protects his word. Over hundreds of years, thousands for some, God has preserved His words, which he initiated and provided. The inspired word has lasted because it is inspired. Not only has it lasted but it has also affected the world, because it is inspired. Throughout history no corruption in the church or in God’s people has been able to corrupt the Word of God because God is the protector. He is faithful to maintain the integrity of the truth and inspiration of the Word. The truth that God’s Word is inspired means it can be trusted to be an accurate and true revelation of God, initiated, provided and protected by Himself. Be encouraged and believe God's word.

Pastor Ueckert,

Thank you for a good beginning in affirming the inspiration of God's Word. Please expand this by citing and quoting the portions of God's Word that declare these truths. It seems odd to affirm the Word without plainly relying upon it.

Sure. In hopes that I have understood your request for expansion, I would be happy to provide specific Scriptures at a later time. In the mean time may it suffice to say that all that I have written on the inspiration of God's word is derived from and based upon the inspired word and therefore my reliance upon it is self-evident in what I have written. But i shall make it more evident by supplying some specific verses of Scripture - at a later time.

It is good to be reminded that, no matter what (even if Barak Obama is elected president...even if Iran gets atomic bombs and shoots one at Tel Aviv...even if...) the foundation of my life is still solid.

Exodux 24:4; Deut. 4:1-2; 17:19; Psalm 12:6; 19:7-10; 119:105, 160; Proverbs 30:5; Matthew 5:17-18; Luke 21:33; John 5:39; 17:17; Romans 15:4; 2 Timothy 1:13; 3:16-17; Hebrews 1:1-2; 1 Peter 1:25; 2 Peter 1:19-21. Hopefully this is a good place to start for dependence upon the word.
